Throughout the year we have a tradition to come together in ceremony to honor and remember the various events specific to the seasons. Each occasion has a specific focus and flavor. These ceremonies range from solemn, celebratory, joyous, reverent and grateful.


Anniversary

Shao Shan Temple's Anniversary is celebrated every year on a Sunday close to September 15th. A ceremony of rededicating the Temple and ourselves.

Buddha's Birthday

Buddha's Birthday is celebrated in May with a special family-focused fanciful occasion - flowers, parasols, bubbles and bells!

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is celebrated every year on December 31st with a unique evening of reflection, bells and refreshment.

Remembrance Ceremony

Annually in October, there is a Remembrance Ceremony in the Cemetery to remember the deceased loved ones and spiritual lineage

Solstice & Equinox

We mark the four natural turning points of the year with ceremony - Spring Equinox in the snow, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox-combined with Peace Day, and a candlelight Winter Solstice.

Jukai

Shao Shan Temple offers a path of commitment - the possibility to receive the Buddhist Precepts and become a student with formal public ceremony.

Private Ceremonies

Private ceremonies mark important life occasions and can be held at Shao Shan Temple. (more information)
